CRYPTO NEWS
Markets remained volatile as softer U.S. inflation, PPI, retail-sales and sentiment data reduced expectations for a September Fed hike. U.S. equities touched fresh records, gold and silver strengthened, while Bitcoin stayed around the low-$63K area amid renewed ETF outflows. Oil and the U.S.–Iran/Hormuz situation remained the biggest macro risks.
1. Crypto Markets
Bitcoin failed to sustain the $65,000 area and traded around $63,300 on August 17. Glassnode described the recovery as tentative: taker demand improved and downside hedging eased, but spot liquidity and on-chain activity remained subdued.

Altcoin participation remained selective rather than broad enough to indicate a sustained altcoin season.

OPTIONS OI ANALYTICS FOR UPCOMING WEEK
OI Analytics for the upcoming week: BTCUSD
Call and put open interest are both heavily concentrated at the $65,000 strike, making it the key options pivot for the week. While higher call OI suggests resistance near $65,000, substantial put OI at the same strike points to strong two-sided positioning and expectations of consolidation around this level. On the downside, notably put OI around $60,000 highlights an important support zone. The PCR at 1.01 indicates broadly neutral sentiment, while max pain at $64,500 further reinforces the $64,500–$65,000 region as the key expiry zone.
OI Analytics for the upcoming week: ETHUSD
For ETH, open interest is concentrated around the $1,900 strike, with sizable positioning on both calls and puts, making it the key near-term pivot. Above spot, the largest call OI sits around $1,940, followed by $1,960 and $2,000, highlighting these levels as important resistance zones. On the downside, strong put OI is visible around $1,840 and $1,780–$1,800, suggesting notable support below current prices. The PCR at 0.90 indicates a mildly call-heavy positioning, while max pain at $1,900, almost exactly in line with ETH’s current price near $1,894, points to potential consolidation around the $1,890–$1,900 zone into expiry.
